I have been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the GB Academy for four years. I had taken my first lesson to accompany a friend but was immediately hooked by the friendly atmosphere of the class. I haven’t looked back since and training at the academy is a highlight of my week. Classes are well structured and there is a good balance between technique instruction and live sparring. Gary’s attention to detail during teaching is extraordinary and ‘lightbulb’ moments are frequent for all members of the class.

He is also well aware of each student’s strengths and weaknesses and is always on hand to trouble shoot issues with a particular technique. There is a wide range of age and ability of skill in all classes, but there is one thing in common. We are there to help each other get better at Jiu Jitsu and we help each other to move forward together. It is to Gary’s credit that he has been able to develop this cooperative spirit in his students.

I introduced my daughter to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu two years ago when she was five. I am delighted that training at the academy is now also a highlight of her week. Child classes, like adult classes, are safe, well-structured and stimulating and I feel proud to be part of this Academy.
